60,000 steps earns local participant prize

COEUR D’ALENE, IDAHO (October 17, 2008) –

Who: The winner of the 2008 Right Steps challenge is Lesly Ward. She is employed by Hagadone Corporation. Her prize is either a $1,000 gas card or $1,000 in cash
What: The Right Steps in Healthy Directions is an activity challenge designed to inspire and motivate participants to a more active lifestyle. Activity is tracked in steps. Participants can use a pedometer to track steps or can convert their miles or minutes of activity to steps using a conversion chart.

The Right Steps was first launched in 2004 at Kootenai Health as a yearlong activity challenge for employees. Since that time it has been opened-up to other employer groups and the community. We have local community employer groups participating as well as some as far south as Moscow.

Every 60,000 steps earn participants another chance to win the grand prize. The grand prize winner of the 2005 Right Steps challenge was a Kootenai Health employee. She selected a weeklong trip for 2 to England. The winner of the 2006 Right Steps challenge was a Kootenai Electric Cooperative employee. He selected a weeklong family trip for 4 to Disneyland. The winner of the 2007 Right Steps challenge was an Environment Control employee. She selected a weeklong family trip for 4 to Disney World.
